Apricot x Plum hybrid PLYUMKOT KUBANSKY

Interspecific hybrid of black apricot and Siberian plum. Very valuable for its fruit quality, high frost resistance in wood and blossom at the level of Siberian plums, very good resistance to fungal diseases and excellent taste properties.

Crossing: Siberian plum Kubanskaja Kometa x black apricot, OSS VNIIR N.I. Vavilov, Crimea
Vigour: weak, compact, final height up to 3 m, suitable for small gardens
Blossom: cross-pollinate. Flower buds are frost resistant, which contributes to regular fertility. Blooming flowers are resistant to mild frost.
Fruit: large, weight 35 - 45 g, oval, dark violet, finely hairy. Stone small. Suitable for fresh consumption and for processing into juices and compotes, where they retain their beautiful color and texture. Fruits are characterized by good transportability.
Pulp: crimson red with good consistency, semi-freestone
Taste: excellent, sourly sweet with a pleasant apricot aroma
Harvest season: second decade of July
Yield: medium-high, regular, early onset. The first fruit bears already in the 2nd - 3rd year after planting.
Resistance to diseases: resistant to Monilia (Monilinia laxa), Stigmina carpophila (Clasterosporium carpophilum), bacterium (Pseudomonas syringae) and Leucostoma canker (Leucostoma cincta syn. Cytospora cincta) which causes canker death of stone fruit, especially apricots. Resistant to heavy and wet soils.
Frost resistance: both wood and flower buds are completely frost hardy. Flower buds of hybrids are more resistant to extremely low temperatures than apricots.
Usage: due to its adaptability, the variety is particularly suitable for gardeners and for areas where apricots cannot be grown due to spring frosts. Suitable for organic or no-spray culture.
