Pear UTA

Productive and reliable winter pear with good fruit quality and good storage properties. It is similar to Bosc Pear and is used as a table and distilling pear. Suitable for commercial cultivation and organic cultivation in all pear locations.

Crossing: Madame Verte x Beurre Bosc Pear
Vigour: moderate to weak, compact, typically pyramidal growth habit, little effort required for pruning
Blossom: cross-pollinate variety, for pollination needs another pear blooming at the same time.
Fruits: large, 180 - 300 g, round oval, completely golden-bronze rusty on a green ground colour, very easy to transport
Pulp: firm, juicy with a balanced, strong aroma, firm to the bite, melting, sweet and sour
Harvest season: harwest maturity early to mid-October, consumption maturity from November, can be kept in cold storage until February
Yield: early onset, medium to high, thinning required
Disease resistance: highly resistant to scab (Venturia pyrina), powdery mildew (Podosphaera leucotricha), low susceptibility to fire blight (Erwinia amylovora). Young wood is slightly sensitive to frost.
